TOMMY COLLINS born Leonard Raymond Sipes, Sept. 29, 1930 in Oklahoma, City was riding high in the mid fifties. His first hit YOU BETTER NOT DO THAT which featured BUCK OWENS on guitar hit the number 2 spot in l954 followed by WATCHA GONNA DO NOW # 4, UNTIED # 10 that same year, IT TICKLES # 5 in l955, and IF YOU CAN’T BITE, DON’T GROWL # 7 in l966 with WANDA COLLINS which was his last top ten while others made the top twenty and others showed up on the lower rungs. COLLIN’S compositions include IF YOU AIN’T LOVE YOU AIN’T LIVE for FARON YOUNG & GEORGE STRAIT, YOU GOTTA HAVE A LISCENES for PORTER WAGONER, ROOTS OF MY RAISING & CAROLYN for MERLE HAGGARD, Was a minister from l961 & 64. He died March 14, 2000 at his home Ashland City, Tennessee.
