HILL whose sobriquet was THE GOLDEN HILL BILLY burst on the music scene in l952 and was probably the first “girl singer”to bring glamour to the country music industry with her “movie star” looks. Her first hit I LET THE STARS GET IN MY EYES an answer to the SLIM WILLIET classic DON’T LET THE STARS GET IN YOUR EYES in January of l953 was on the charts for nine weeks and stayed at number 1 for three weeks and is included in this collection. HILL retired completely from show business in l957 when she married country singer CARL SMITH to raise their three children. She died February 24, 2005 at the age of 72 . The listener will recognize the WEBB PIERCE hit sound from the fifties with fiddle, steel, electric lead, rhythm guitar and bass.
