$14.85RITTER, was a cowboy movie star, writer, politician and beloved by both fans and fellow entertainers. Born MAURICE WOODWARD RITTER in Murvaul Panola Country, Texas one of the founders of THE COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION & HALL of fame is probably best known for his pop/country hit of the same titled from the movie HIGH NOON starring GARY COOPER & GRACE KELLY. Originally, RITTER wanted to be an attorney and studied one year of law at the Northwestern University of Texas. His persuit, however was unsuccessful and he wound up in New York, where he appeared in several boadway productions one of which was GREEN GROW THE LILACS His acting venture finally led him to California where he became one of the more popular cowboy movie stars in the late 30’s and early 40’s & enjoyed twelve chart topping recordings for Capitol during those years.. He died of a heart attack in l973 in Nashville, Tennessee.
