Chestnut's first album recorded for Joe Scates, Axbar Records of San Antonio, featuares some solid country and honky tonk material with lonesome fiddles and crying steel guitar. Even though the recordings were made early in his career, there's very little difference in Chestnut's vocals albeit he sings with somewhat more feeling and the material is just as good, if not better than his later efforts for the majors. Spotlight cuts include WELCOME FOOL, SINCE I DRANK MY WAY TO HOUSTON and RODEO COWBOYS. The only cover is the David Loggins compoisition, LET'S MAKE A MEMORY ONE MORE TIME. Ten performances.
