$11.85JIMMIE RODGERS/Country Music Hall Of Fame 1961 Jimmie Rodgers is the undisputed "Father Of Country Music." His influence on country music, from the mid-1920 s until the present day, is without measure. Jimmie's march toward greatness really began in Bristol, TN in 1927 with an audition style recording session held by the Victor company. At a follow-up session, Jimmie recorded "'T' For Texas." It became one of the first country songs to sell a million copies. Soon Jimmie's success skyrocketed. He appeared in films and, despite faltering health from tuberculosis that he contracted in 1924, energetically recorded songs throughout his life. In 1933, two days after his last recording session, Jimmie Rodgers died of a lung hemorrhage. In 1961, he was the first inductee into the Country Music Hall Of Fame. Disc 1 Song List 1.
