BILLY WALKER/STARS OF THE GRAND OLE OPRY. Early in his career, Walker billed himself as the Travelin' Texan and even wore a mask not unlike that of the Lone Ranger's abeit Walker's was somewhat more colorful. At that time he was a regular member of the Big D Jamboree in Dallas and recorded for Columbia. In the early fifties his first success came with a tune called ANYTHING YOUR HEART DESIRES and in l954 he it the top ten with THANK YOU FOR CALLING. In this issue, WALKER reprises his number one hit from l960, CHARLIE SHOES and CROSS THE BRAZOS AT WACO his number two chart entry in l964 all the others are originals. While Walker is noted as a country singer, for the most part this album is somewhat comtemporary. Produced by Pete Drake. BWCD.
